What You Already Know

Why owner-managed businesses stall, and what moves them again

Most owners already know what is wrong with their business. They know the customer they should have walked away from, the manager who is not up to it, the plan that changed nothing. What they do not have is a way to turn that knowledge into a decision.

This book is about that gap. It is short, twenty-three chapters you can read in an evening, and it comes from forty years of running businesses rather than advising on them. The examples are real. Some of them are mine, including the year a business I ran went under.

Who it is for

Owners of established businesses, typically £1M to £50M, who have reached the point where what got them here has stopped working. If you are not sure whether that is you, the first three chapters will tell you.

What is in it

The book runs in five parts: the knowing, why we wait, the deciding, building the capacity, and without you. Most chapters close with a first move, one thing you can do this week that costs nothing and tells you something.
